Calming Dog Behavior Aid: NurtureCALM 24/7 Pheromone Collar

All too often a dog that displays aggressive, destructive and restless behavior will be cast as an unstable dog and will lose the trust of his owners or owner’s friends. This is a sad scenario because the behavior a dog displays is a direct result of their enviroment and external stimuli. Just like fearful and stressful situations can effect our human behavior, a dog’s behavior is influenced by situations but they do not have the ability to understand what causes the drastic change in their enviroment.

Fortunately, there are natural chemicals or pheromones that are proven to trigger a calming behavorial response for dogs in stressful and unfamilair situations. The NurtureCALM 24/7 Pheromone Collar for dogs is one example of a behavior aid that stays with the pet and releases sustained pheromones wherever the dog goes for 30 days. This is a clear advantage versus some pheromone diffusers that are to be operated in one area of the home.

The pheromone behavior aid has been especially successful for dogs dealing with the following situations:
  • Separation anxiety
  • Unfamiliar visitors
  • Other dogs
  • Loud noises (fireworks)
  • A new baby
  • Visit to the vet
  • Car travel
If your furry friend is frequently stressed by any of the above scenarios it may be time to try NurtureCALM’s collar. The collar works by mimicking the calming pheromone a mother releases to calm and reassure her puppies. The natural dog chemical is familiar to the dog and may help the pet stop excessive barking, anxiety, destructive acts, urine marking and fear biting. The collar may be worn by dogs of all ages and breeds, just be careful not to allow children to handle the collar. For more information and to purchase the product click the link above.

Tips to Help Your Pet Maintain a Healthy Weight

In an effort to raise awareness for National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, recognized on October 8, we want to share with you a few tips so your furry friend has the opportunity to lead a long, happy, and healthy life! Just like humans, pets carrying extra body weight causes stress to their vital organs and joints, and when those organs are overworked, it leads to disease and death. As you may know, an abundance of extra pounds can cause a number of adverse health effects, including:
  • Stress on the heart
  • Various skin disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Shortened lifespan
If you have concern that your pet may be overweight and in need of some slimming down, there are things you can do to make the process easier and more natural; in addition to a strict diet and exercise program try these tips to help maintaining your pet’s weight:
  • Schedule specific mealtimes, and stick to them as opposed to leaving food out all day.
  • Never feed your pet table scraps containing fat and/or processed foods.
  • Feed low calorie snacks as between-meal treats.
  • Don’t feed your pet simply because he seems bored, sad, or finicky. We tend to eat when we’re bored, so does your pet. Instead, try play time (exercise) or snuggles and hugs.
  • Find a toy that your pet loves to stimulate activity. For cats, often a cat nip toy will do the trick, where dogs typically respond well to playing a game of fetch or tossing their favorite toy around.
  • Nutritional supplements can offer additional support when working to eliminate extra weight and curb hunger. There are weight management supplements for your cat, as well as the one found here for dogs. Both are known to boost metabolism and promote proper weight and good health, through supporting appetite control and the burning of fat.

These adjustments to diet and exercise, coupled with the appropriate nutritional supplements, will have your pet feeling fit and fabulous in no time! No better time than the present to get started- order your supplements today, and start taking the necessary measures immediately to ensure your pet lives a long and healthy life.

Product Spotlight: Biotene Oratene Veterinarian Maintenance Gel

Biotene Oratene Veterinarian Maintenance Gel was created for cats and dogs to treat severe oral infections such as stomatitis, gingivitis and periodontal disease; and has also been show effective as part of a daily oral care regimen for prevention and maintenance. Containing a potent enzyme formula, Oratene Veterinarian Maintenance Gel is the original “brushless” toothpaste, keeping your pet’s gums and teeth healthy for years to come.

Gum disease in pets has been linked to the occurrence of heart disease, so you can see why proper dental hygiene is important for whole body health. Bacteria can travel through the gums into the bloodstream leading to infections in the liver, kidneys, and heart, potentially causing life-threatening sickness. It is vital to examine your pet’s teeth and gums regularly to watch for yellow or brown tartar buildup, red inflamed gums, bad breath, and loose or broken teeth, as these are a sign of poor dental health and require attentive maintenance. This high quality enzymatic formula works to remove plaque biofilm and inhibit odor causing bacteria, while soothing, moisturizing and protecting your pet’s oral tissue against dryness, irritation, inflammation and redness.

Methods of Application
For use in treating severe oral infections such as stomatitis, gingivitis and periodontal disease, apply a 1/2" strip to upper and lower gums twice daily for 5-7 days or until infection subsides.

For use in a daily care regimen, apply a 1/2” strip to upper and lower gums daily. Best if used in the morning, at night and after meals.  For optimal oral care, use in conjunction with Oratene Veterinarian Drinking Water Additive, Oratene Veterinarian Breath Freshener and Oratene Veterinarian Antiseptic Gel to maintain healthy mouth and gums.
