Fun Vacation Ideas for You and Your Dog

This is the time of year when many families begin planning their summer vacations. Visions of sunbathing in a tropical setting or exploring a new city are always popular ideas that make the brainstorming list. But have you ever considered a vacation that would include the entire family; even your dog? It’s no secret that dogs love adventure, seeing new things and smelling new smells. While it’s not possible to bring your pet on every vacation, we’ve put together a list of trip ideas that will keep both you and your dog entertained!

Set Up Camp

Pack up the SUV or mini-van and get ready for a fun-filled weekend of camping! Camping is a great way to unplug from our daily lives and reconnect with loved ones. Whether you decide to rough it with a tent camping setup or you rent a pet friendly cabin, both you and your dog will enjoy the great outdoors together. Most state parks and private campgrounds are pet friendly; just make sure you check before for any rules you need to follow.

Hiking Adventure

If you are looking for things to do during a camping trip or just want to take a day trip with your furry friend, consider taking a hike! Hiking is excellent exercise for both you and your dog and allows your pet to explore new territory. Remember to bring a leash and water for you and your pet!

Hit the Beach

We love the sun, sand and waves at the beach, so chances are so will your pup. Online resources like bringfido.com make it simple to locate and plan a beach vacation where you and your dog will be welcome. Don’t forget to pack dog toys, water and a beach umbrella so your pup has shade when they are ready to relax. If the beach is a long car ride away, consider a pet-friendly hotel to break up the drive.

Fish On!

If you or your dog is getting up there in age and the previously mentioned pet vacations are a little ambitious, have you thought about taking a fishing trip? Find a tranquil lake or river, pack an afternoon lunch for both you and the pup and enjoy an afternoon on the water. Between the excitement of watching you catch fish after fish and being on the open water, this vacation’s memories are sure to last a lifetime!
